MP criticises lack of info on cars

There is no Faroese website with details about vehicles.
Denmark has a website with public information about all cars. No such website exists in the Faroes.
The reason is that the Faroes have no legal authority in this field, says transport minister Heðin Mortensen in reply to an enquiry from MP Kári P Højgaard.
The minister says that efforts have been made to gain this legal authority, but these efforts have so far been unsuccessful.
In Denmark, the public can find information about any vehicle on the website nummerplade.net by typing in the license plate number or the chassis number.
This information includes a car’s remaining debt, inspection details and whether a car has been used as a taxi.
Kári P Højgaard says that such information is crucial when spare parts are ordered from abroad or bought from a provider other than the one representing a given brand of car.
