Patients can receive cannabis
Eleven remedial products containing cannabis are available in the country, but certain conditions apply.
Guidance for GP practices in Denmark and the Faroes is identical with regards to medication containing cannabis, according to the Ministry of Health and the Interior.
Miðflokkurin (the Central Party) has proposed that medical cannabis should be made available on a trial basis similar to the one in Denmark.
Two of the preparations allowed in the Danish trial are not approved in the Faroes. These are the flowers and buds of the Cannabis Sativa plant.
Patients are advised to either make tea from the cannabis preparations or breathe in the vapour using a specially designed vaporiser.
