Presidents praising Putin
Vladimir Putin’s landslide victory on Sunday means he will serve a fourth term as the president of the world’s largest country.
A number of international leaders have responded positively to the re-election victory.
One of them is China’s president, Xi Jinping, who thanked the Russian president for the good and fair collaboration between the countries.
The president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, also praised Putin:
“He has implemented radical social and economical reforms with good results,” he said.
Ilham Aliyev, the president of Azerbaijan, sees the election result as a clear sign that the Russian people want law and order to prevail for another six years, and that this will further improve the quality of their lives.
The presidents of Belarus, Venezuela and Cuba have also sent their good wishes.
Vladimir Putin won some 75 percent of the votes in Sunday’s election.
Media reports suggest that the election was rigged, claming that many fake voting ballots were used and that some people voted numerous times.
