Parliament speaker shocked by MP’s “psycho” remark

Annita á Fríðriksmørk, chair of Republican party Tjóðveldi’s parliamentary committee, made an offhand comment about Parliament speaker, Páll á Reynatúgvu, at Saturday’s party conference.
The entire eight-hour conference was streamed live, and during a break, which was also recorded, Fríðriksmørk is heard referring to her party colleague as a “selfish psychopath”, according to news portal news.fo.
During the break, Fríðriksmørk is heard speaking to a Danish audience member, and the remark was made in reference to Reynatúgvu’s proposal to scrap the two Faroese seats in the Danish Parliament.
“Selfish psychopath”
At this point in the conversation, Fríðriksmørk said she believed she knew the rationale for Reynatúgvu’s proposal:
“He has run five times for the Danish Parliament with no luck, and then along comes Magni Arge, who received a thousand votes in his first attempt,” she said, adding: “He is a big egotist and a psychopath.”
She then went on to accuse Reynatúgvu for not tolerating criticism, and that he has deleted most of the dissenting members of the party’s parliamentary committee from his Facebook account.
Shocked
Reynatúgvu hesitated to comment on the situation: “I am shocked by what I have been told. This is hard for me personally, but I haven’t heard it myself yet, so for now I’m just referring to the party,” he said.
Annita á Fríðriksmørk has since issued an unconditional apology for her remark. Reynatúgvu declined to comment when asked if he accepts the apology.
