Plans for new boxing club in Klaksvík
Boxing is a popular sport in Klaksvík. So much so that many people in the area travel once a week to Tórshavn for boxing training at Tórshavn Boksing.
Recognising this high demand for boxing in the Norðoyggjar region, the owners of the Full Power fitness centre in Klaksvík have now decided that the time is right to start a boxing club in Klaksvík.
“We have been offering fitness boxing classes for a long time. But after repeated encouragement from Tórshavn Boksing and others to start a boxing club, we finally decided to accept the challenge,” says Full Power co-owner Unnur S. Fonn.
From fitness boxing to real boxing
“The plan is to expand the existing fitness boxing classes into ‘real’ boxing, with an instructor teaching real boxing techniques,” says fellow co-owner Sølvá J. Joensen.
“We have all the facilities we need to get started, and setting up a boxing ring isn’t that hard – it just requires a few ropes.”
They are keen to point out that the new club will be for everyone, young and old.

“Everyone is welcome to drop by our fitness centre at 6pm this Thursday for an introductory boxing class, which will be followed by our first general meeting,” says Joensen.
“We will obviously be paying close attention to the Covid-19 safety guidelines, and we have lots of hand sanitisers.”
Full Power is located at 72 Klaksviksvegur, Klaksvík.
