H71 failed to follow up on their sensational first-leg win in the EHF Champions League match against Slovenia’s RK Maribor Branik in yesterday’s second leg match.
The Hoyvík-based team took everyone by surprise on Friday, beating the Slovenian champions 25-24.
But the Slovenians were much stronger in the second leg and went through to the second round after winning 31-24.
“Our lack of experience on the international stage became very clear in the second leg,” says H71 player Pauli Mittún. “They punished all our mistakes and thoroughly deserved the win.”
Both games were played in Tórshavn.
