Faroes take on Spain tonight
The Faroese national football team will face former World Cup winners and triple European Cup winners Spain tonight in a UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying game.
Manager Lars Olsen is looking forward to the challenge and is keen to see how his team compares to a great football nation as Spain. He says he is not intending to adopt a different approach to this game compared to others.
“If the pressure turns out to be to high, perhaps we will consider making minor tactical adjustments,” he says.
Third attempt
The Faroes have played against Spain twice before.
The 1996 World Cup qualifier home game, played at the Svangaskarð stadium in Toftir, ended with a 6-2 win for the Spanish team. In the away game, played in Gijón, Spain, the following year, the Spanish team won with a score of 3-1.
The match, which starts at 7:45pm, will be broadcast live on this website, as well as on KVF’s radio and TV channels.
